SCHOOL HISTORY

Army Goodwill School, Ziran is located in Ziran village in Tehsil Tangmarg, Dist Baramulla in North Kashmir. The school was est as part of Op Sadbhavana in Mar 1999 as a Primary School by 11 Fd Regt under the aegis of HQ 8 Mtn Arty Bde with the aim of add one class every year. Initially the school was est with a strength of 150 students. The school was upgraded to Middle level in 2002. Finally, it was upgraded to the secondary level in 2004 and the school was affiliated with J&K Board of School Education. Since its inception, the school has garnered numerous accolades and est itself as a model educational institution boasting enviable performance in academics, sports and extracurricular activities within the AOR. The school has students from more than 70 villages and has gained a well-deserved name not only in Gulmarg region but also in other adjoining areas.  AGS, Ziran provides quality edn up to Cl X at very affordable fees to poor and needy children from remote villages. Over the last three years, the student str has incr from 472 to 654 with a faculty of 32 teaching & non-teaching staff, which indicates the future potential of AGS, Ziran. The school is functioning on a ‘NO PROFIT NO LOSS’ policy with generous funding from army for the infrastructure of the school and routine expenses like honorarium to the staff with the motto “Knowledge is Power”.
